You might be asking why “13” has so many exclamation marks, the reason is probably just what you think: Taylor

It’s the day she was born, December 13th, 1989. This lead to her using it as her lucky number (obviously I did too), and putting it everywhere since she started her career, which usually drives me crazy, since she likes to give little clues and easter eggs about what she’s doing next with her music in the form of said number 13

Now, having said that, let’s move on to the reason you’re actually here.

Dad: The shelves look great Khalid.

Khalid: Thank you. I enjoy working with my hands. I miss doing practical things like this when I’m studying all the time.

Dad: Well I have an idea which might suit us both.

Khalid: Really, what’s that?

Dad: I hear you’re not going back home over the holidays.

Khalid: Er, yes. It’s too expensive and my family doesn’t celebrate Christmas in Bahrain anyway.

Dad: Well, I was planning on doing some redecorating on one of my other flats while my tenants were away for Christmas.

Khalid: Oh yes?

Dad: I could really use another pair of hands. Of course, I wouldn’t expect you to work for free. What do you think?

Khalid: I’d love to! but if you want to pay me, you can choose the amount of money, i won’t ask you for a whole wage

Dad: oh that’s so kind of you.

Khalid: so, what would you like to add to the flat?

Dad: i was thinking maybe getting a new couch, adding some carpets, and we definitely have to change the mattress of the master bedroom

Khalid: oh that doesn’t sound like too much of a problem, i’m sure we will finish in no time

Dad: i know, the problem is that my truck is at the workshop, and i won’t get it for another week

Khalid: oh, I see… well, um…. maybe I could borrow my brother’s truck?

Dad: oh, i don’t want to bother him, maybe we should just wait for mine to be returned

Khalid: Nahh, it’s no biggie, he owes me a favor after what I caught him doing the other day…

John: Hi Helen! I haven’t seen you in the library for ages. What are you doing here?

Helen: I’ve got a ton of work from Professor Lewis and I need to make a start on it. I’m surprised to see you working here so late.

John: Oh I’m a changed man! Not that you’d have noticed. You’ve been a million miles away for ages.

Helen: Yeah. I have. So what made you knuckle down?

John: Well, the prof gave me a good talking to about the whole photocopying incident.

Helen: What did she say?

John: Look, why don’t we nip out for a coffee and I’II tell you the whole gruesome tale?

Helen: Oh I shouldn’t really.

John: Come on, five minutes won’t hurt!

Helen: Alright, but it is pretty late, so you have to take me home after.

John: There’s no problem, I can drive you home.

Helen: So, do you know any good coffee places we can go?

John: There’s this café just around the block, I really like their Chai Sugar Cookies, they have awesome pastries.

Helen: That’s sounds amazing, let’s go!
By the way, is it too expensive? I don’t have that much money on me

John: Don’t worry about that, it’s on me, a gentleman always pays in the first date…

Helen: A date? John, I have a boyfriend…

John: I won’t tell him if you don’t.
